So I really wanted to write about what we did yesterday YESTERDAY, but I never really got the chance (as you'll soon see if was pretty darned full of activities!) SO instead I'll just write about yesterday's activities in this post and I'll post again tomorrow about all the fun we had today when I can upload all of my pictures!
Incidentally, both yesterday and today involved church tower climbs that each rewarded a good workout with an AMAZING view at the top! After finishing classes on Tuesday (another solid class day! I'll elaborate later), a group of us got together, hit up a bakery and made our way to the Round Tower of Copenhagen!
(I cheated and got this one online here) |
The path was very slick, and winded around like this almost the whole way up! |

Walking a steep path + trying to take pictures simultaneously = these faces! |
EEK! STEEP! |
THE TOP!! It was a phenomenal view:
I was very excited to find that I recognized many of the buildings! It made me feel as though I'm finally getting to know the city. We could see Tivoli, the Parliament building, the Black Diamond Library, and many of the streets we walk on every day! Some people were pointing towards their housing, but I'm not at THAT point yet; I didn't have a clue :)
After spending some time atop the tower, we made our way down, peeked into a few shops, then went our separate ways. I took some time to finally walk around a bit myself, because it seems like that's the ONLY way I learn my way around. After some gymming and showering, I met back up with buddies and we did...
THIS :) Don't worry Mom and Dad - no classes the next day!
Another fun fact about Danish style classes: none on Wednesdays! This makes for both fun Tuesday nights AND good traveling/sightseeing days midweek. Because of having Wednesdays off, we have each class twice a week for an hour and 20 minutes. My Mondays and Thursdays are long (THREE classes in a row!) but I think I'll enjoy my classes a lot! I particularly enjoyed my Communications and Mass Media class this past Monday; we discussed the different viewpoints through which modern media is developed and understood. It's going to be an interesting class, AND I feel like I'm finally going to be up on the latest trends/developments/technology, etc when they come out! Whaddaya know!
Another fun event I completely forgot to mention - Cafe Night! Our Danish class met with our professor at a lovely little restaurant and we had a wonderful DIS sponsored meal. Great food and great company! I was also lucky enough to get to sit right next to our professor. Everyone sitting near her, myself included, grilled her with questions about Denmark, her traveling history, and her personal life the entire time. Hopefully we didn't overdo it :) Mid-meal, we saw THIS!
